Raymond Dothard of Millstone is the Monmouth County Democrats endorsed candidate for Sheriff in the June 4 primary, MMM has learned.
Kevin Tuohy, the candidate who was endorsed at the Dems mini-convention earlier this month, has withdrawn for health reasons.
Dothard, 77, was the Democrat nominee for State Senate in the 12th legislative district in 2013 and ran unsuccessfully for Millstone Township Committee last year. He graduated from Tuskegee University with a B.S. in Chemistry in 1964, according to Ballotpedia. He served in the United States Air Force and the Air National Guard from 1964 till 1992. He was a commercial airline pilot until 2001 and worked as an FAA aviation safety inspector from 2002 to 2012.
Dothard is expected to challenge Sheriff Shaun Golden in the November 5 general election, assuming they both win their party primaries on June 4.
