Rich Pezzullo gets the CD-6 endorsement by acclamation
Former Celgene CEO Bob Hugin won the endorsement of the Monmouth County Republican Committee for the GOP U.S. Senate nomination tonight besting Brian Goldberg by a margin of 121-17.
Freeholder Director Tom Arnone nominated Hugin. Freeholder Gerry Scharfenberger seconded the nomination. When Chairman Shaun Golden asked the convention for a nomination for Goldberg, the room was silent. Hugin stood and said, “I’ll nominate Brian. He is a competitor and deserves to be heard. I’ll nominate him if allowed.” Golden again asked for a nomination from the assembled County Committee members. State Senator Declan O’ Scanlon offered the nomination and Golden himself provided the second.
“Bob Hugin will represent all New Jerseyans with honor in Washington and I’m proud to support his candidacy,” said Chairman Shaun Golden. “Bob has been a job creator here in New Jersey for decades and I know he’ll continue to fight for New Jersey in the U.S. Senate.”
“I’m humbled by the support from the Monmouth County Republican Committee,” said Bob Hugin. “I look forward to working together in our effort to bring honesty and integrity back to the U.S. Senate on behalf of all New Jerseyans.”
Hugin has previous won the county GOP endorsement from the Warren, Hudson, Burlington, Ocean, Hunterdon, Union, Salem, Gloucester, Cape May, Morris, Sussex, and Camden Republican County Committee. The Passaic County GOP also awarded Hugin their endorsement tonight.
Former State Senator Jennifer Beck nominated Rich Pezzullo for the 6th Congressional District endorsement.
After accepting the nomination, Pezzullo laid out his strategy to defeat the entrenched far-left Congressman Frank Pallone in brief remarks. “We’re outnumbered in this district by registration, but we are not outnumbered in our patriotism.”
“After 30 years, Frank Pallone has proven again and again that he does not share our vision. He does not believe in America,” Pezzullo continued. “His reign of uselessness is over.”
“The message is the dream: the greatest age of American history is within our grasp. Frank Pallone is standing in our way, and his time is up.”
